First off: we must say that this is not a safe sexual practice. No matter HIV, there are plenty of other STIs doing the round. They may sound like names of Greek gods, but you don’t want them. (Vaccinating for Hep A&B can be a good thing.)
That said, if you are sure of your partner’s health status, rimming can form a deeply pleasurable part of your sexual rituals.
Gay sex positions – rimming him
There are different positions to choose from. The man being rimmed might lie on his back with his legs up, might go doggy or lie flat on his stomach, or you might be in a 69 position, or you might go doggy. Perhaps the first of these allows greatest access – to both anus and penis – though your preference might well depend on your favourite way of having anal sex, to which this is an excellent preliminary as it relaxes the sphincter and stimulates desire both to penetrate and to be penetrated.
When rimming, begin with broad, wet licks, then move the tongue in narrowing circles around the anus. Use the tip of the tongue to probe at the muscle, and register how that muscle expands and contracts. Really push with your tongue to get inside the anus. It’s enormously exciting to hear how your partner responds to this. Dip in and out and vary the pressure. All the while use your hands to stroke and caress your partner, his legs and his torso and penis.
When he gets really relaxed, and especially if you’re planning on fucking him, you can use lubricated fingers to open his hole. (Especially nice if he’s douched first.) As he opens to receive you, swirl your tongue just inside and taste him. Spit on his hole and tease him – so that he’s wanting you fully inside.
When being rimmed, lie back and enjoy it. Don’t feel scared, as if it’s wrong or you’re worried about his being so closely involved with your anus. If he didn’t like it, he wouldn’t be doing it. Let him enjoy, and help you to enjoy, every bit of you.
